Postal Services


Students can receive mail at the following address:

The mail is generally reliable, the time it takes a letter to reach its destination can vary. Delays in December and January when mail volume goes up must be taken into consideration.There are three main post offices, one in Punda, one in Otrobanda, and one in Groot Kwartier, as well as small branches at the World Trade Center and at the airport.

Opening hours are from 7:30 am - 12:00pm and from 1:30 pm - 5:00pm on weekdays.On Saturdays the hours are 7:30 am - 11:30 am.

As an alternative to the conventional postal system, students can subscribe to a special mail service provided through the local post office for faster delivery of foreign mail to Curaçao.This service assigns you a P.O. box address in Miami, Florida for general correspondence.The mail box emptied regularly and transported to Curaçao.Further details and application information are available through the University's administrative office.Federal Express services as well as UPS postal service are also available on the island.

Adjustment to University life in a new country can present an enormous challenge to some students.Even if a student is more at home with the new setting, transition to the University lifestyle involves many changes.The Student Counseling Services provides free-of-charge services and programs to assist and meet the needs of the students. These services are provided to students of the St. Martinus University by qualified, experienced counseling personnel with backgrounds in psychology, counseling or psychiatry.

Counselors work under professional codes of confidentiality.
Some of the most critical stress factors for students can be:

  • Moving to a new environment away from home
  • Adjustment to University life
  • The pressure of studies in a new environment.
  • Attempting to concentrate on studies when there is bad news from home
  • A period of considerable uncertainty as USMLE I and clinical placements loom, followed by transition from basic sciences to clerkships
  • Clerkships, adjustment to hospital life, and the new environment
St. Martinus University is aware of these particular stressful transitions; counseling is provided free-of-charge to users. There is no limit on usage of service and any student who feels the need for assistance is encouraged to make contact with the counseling professionals. Career Guidance services
The Career Guidance Office helps student’s secure postgraduate positions. Their experience helps you professionally present yourself and follow the best schedule to navigate the residency application process smoothly.The members of the Office of Career Guidance encourage all students and graduates to make good use of theses services. All conversations and communications are considered personal and confidential.

The Office of Career Guidance is staffed by faculty and alumni of the Faculty of Medicine. The Office advises students on USMLE preparation, counsels students in specialty and residency selection, interview skills, CV preparation and the residency application process in the U.S., the U.K. and non-US programs.

The OCG also acts as a liaison with the ECFMG. There are many benefits of taking advantage of this valuable resource. The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates is diligent in its efforts to provide information to international medical graduates.As a result of these efforts The ECFMG Reporter, an electronic newsletter, is published to keep international medical graduates informed of current topics and issues.
